23 Mighty Marlins joined the competition at Hucknall LC this Sunday, taking part in 102 races and achieving 57 PB’s between them. This is a fantastic achievement and shows that everyone’s efforts in training is paying dividends. From a coaching point of view, it was also very pleasing that there were no disqualifications for BMSC through the entire day.
Performance highlights were swims by Bethany Dye, Olivia Jelley, Olivia Jordan, Thomas Jordan, Emma Jane Rantzen and Luke Warburton, who all managed a personal best in every event. Nearly every swimmer improved their time in at least one event, with Tilly Shakespeare knocking more then 4 seconds off her 100m fly time, and still managing a smile after finishing!
BMSC medallists included Jenna Bevan in the 50m Freestyle and Emma Jane Rantzen in the 50m Freestyle and 100m IM. However, pride of place for the day went to Lotta Perry-Taylor who won the highly competitive 50m Breaststroke and also came second in the 50m Freestyle. With more than 20 swimmers in each event Lotta held her nerve and produced great swims with excellent technique and strong finishes.
After a long and enjoyable day, everyone was glad to get home and relax before thinking about the next gala and more racing. As ever, thanks go to our supporters and volunteers who made the day possible and enable our wonderful swimmers to produce such great results.
