About Personal Bests
Personal best times (PBs) are an important part of a competitive swimmers life. They allow each and every swimmer to see their progress as they train and grow and if desired to compare against their friends and rivals.
As swimmers reach more competitive levels, PBs open up the opportunity to swim in open meets and championships for which there are qualifying times which have to be achieved at a licenced meet. Click on the following link which explains the different types of gala and what a licenced time is.
The Belper Marlin coaching team keep a record of each and every swim at either a gala or a time trial by our swimmers and publish the monthly PB list which you can see on the downloads panel. The times here can then be used by the swimmer to enter our internal galas, (club championships and summer sprints), and if they are licenced in open meets and championships. They are also used as the basis for team selection in our team competitions such as the Arena League and the Junior League.
Licenced Times – British Swimming Database
If you aren’t sure which of your PB times are licenced, the database run by British Swimming on the link below will allow you to search all of your performances at a licenced gala.
